Day 40

Confess Me

Read Luke 12:8-9

When you became a Christian, someone told you about Jesus. They told you He was the Son of God and died for your sins. They also told you to believe those facts and to confess that belief to other people (Romans 10:9-11). The first people to hear you confess this belief were probably a group of other Christians in a Church right before you were baptized into Christ (Mark 16:16).

In order to become “fishers of men”, we must continue confessing Christ before other people. In our scripture reading, Jesus reminds us of the importance of continuing to confess His name and the dangers of not doing so (Romans 1:16-17). While people must hear the words of your faith, they also can see Jesus in you in other ways. This reminds us of last year’s theme “Letting Christ’s Love Shine in 2009”. When people see you react to situations with Christian values, you are confessing Jesus. When you help someone, people can see Jesus in you. When you sacrifice time in order to attend Church events, you are confessing Christ.

Actions cannot replace the words from your lips, but both are important.
