Day 74

Teach all Nations

Read Matthew 28:19

Our scripture for today states the following: “Going therefore disciple ye all the nations, immersing them into the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit...” We should notice Jesus spoke of His delegated authority in the previous verse, “All authority...” and the realm is heaven and earth and the following verse the teaching continues, “...all things whatever I gave command to you...”

We note Jesus just gave a command to His apostles to disciple the peoples of the world. They fulfilled their responsibility when they spoke and wrote about Jesus. The religion of Christ starts with teaching. They continue that teaching today in the pages of the assembled documents we know as the New Testament. When someone reads their writing they continue to teach. These written documents are essential for the individual disciple. It is the only way to test a teacher of Christian truth. If today’s Christian teacher’s instruction does not match that found in the written documents that teacher is religiously wrong according to the written Word.

Why should a disciple care about this? If there is a part of us called the soul that continues after we die and the choices we make while alive fix that soul’s destiny every disciple should take this matter seriously. When we leave this life not doing what Jesus said to have remission of sins because someone taught us Jesus’ command was optional, we might be disappointed when we learn our sins were not forgiven. We might be very upset when we were anticipating heaven and learned our failure to be sure means the destiny we believed the wicked rightly deserved will be ours forever.

Today, if we are going to “teach all nations” it is essential we understand teaching anyone anything that does not match the written Word endangers that soul’s everlasting life.

Each of us is on a journey into eternity. That is a matter of truth and a matter of fact. If we care about our soul’s destiny it is essential we do what is necessary to be sure we are exactly right before we leave here for the hereafter. It is essential we teach others correctly and show them where in the written Word the instruction is found so they can be sure of their salvation.

May God bless you with a heart’s desire to teach thus making disciples of Christ.
