Day 79

The Fields Are White

Read John 4:35

School will be over in a few minutes. Tomorrow I will be going to the country for the summer. I know that Howard is working on the tractor - changing oil, greasing the moving parts, and putting on the large tow bar. He will check the belts and make sure the combine is ready to work from sun up to dark for many days to come for the grain will soon be ready. He will check the field daily until it is just right. The long green foliage has disappeared. Now the color is a pale yellow, almost white-looking in the large field showing it is almost time to harvest. To wait too long means the seed fall on the ground and cannot be saved, good only for the birds. Howard must be ready to work fast and long once the field is ready to harvest.

As Christian farmers, are we ready to bring in the spiritual crop as the worldly farmers do? “The gospel is fitted to make an immediate impression on the minds of men. We are to expect that it will. We are not to wait to some future periods as if we could not expect immediate results.”*

Each one of us should ask ourselves: Am I really ready to attract the white field? Can I give correct scriptures and answers that will be understood? Can I approach the field expecting positive results for Christ? The results may only be one, as in this case but look at the results. Let us all be ready with our spiritual tools as Howard was with his tractor and combine.
