Day 83

Believed Philip preaching

Read Acts 8:12

I think it is imperative that we realize the power of the gospel. When Simon who had been fooling the people with sorcery and trickery seen the real thing as Phillip preached the gospel he realized this is a power that is greater than anything that he had seen and he recognized that this is real and nothing like anything else he had seen. This gospel was different, the miracles were real, the gospel was real, and he recognized it.

We too many times try to rely on our own understanding and our ability to present the gospel instead of relying on the power of the word. Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is alive, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Jesus according to Jn. 1:1-14 is the word. He has been given all power.

What convinced these to obey the gospel? It was when Phillip preached the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ. It is the word that pricks hearts just as it did on the day of Pentecost when Peter preached the first gospel sermon. Let us always realize the power of the word and when we take the word to others we must have confidence if it falls on good soil it will bring forth fruit. How many will you take the gospel to this year?

On the Gospel we can depend in 2010! Send the light!
