Day 85

He Reasoned With Them

Read Acts 17:2

The world needs to know that Jesus is the Christ. Paul was taking this message to the Thessalonians in the Jewish synagogue. Often, the Lord’s messengers were met with contempt as they spoke the truth about Jesus. They spoke the truth anyway. Jesus was the One who suffered and was raised from the dead, just like He said he would (Luke 9:2).

The truth was told and people were urged to accept this truth, that Jesus is the Christ. Today the world has not changed. The truth has not changed. There are still many who do not accept this truth - Jesus is the Christ. This truth must be spoken anyway.

Paul “reasoned with them from the Scriptures” (Acts 17:2). Paul used the Old Testament Scriptures to prove that Jesus is the Christ. The Old Testament foretold of His birth, life, death, and resurrection. Isaiah comes to mind as one who spoke much of the coming Messiah (Isaiah 2:1-4; 7:13; 9:6-7; 11:1-9; 52-53).

Jesus himself used the Old Testament Scriptures to prove He was the Savior (Luke 4:16-21; Isaiah 61:1-2).

Why do people still reject Jesus as the Christ, the Savior, the Son of God? Could it be that since Jesus is the Christ that would mean we are obligated to follow Him and His Will? Many are not willing to do that. We too must reason with people from the Bible to show them the “Way, the Truth, and the Life” (John 14:6).

People today must be urged to accept this truth (Matthew 28:18-20).
