Day 67
Many have heard the event of Jonah in the belly of the great fish. God thus corrected Jonah so he would do what God had commanded him to do. And Jonah did.
Jonah had two problems that he believed. One, Jonah believed that the people were too sinful for God’s mercy. And secondly, Jonah thought that God would only help His people. Jonah was wrong. For God is interested in all people and wants all to one day be with him in heaven, Jonah 4:2.
So Jonah went into Nineveh, Jonah 3:3-4, and preached, cried out, unto these people. And the people fasted in sackcloth and ashes. God was pleased and repented from destroying them.
Today Christians have a similar commission, Matthew 28:18-20, of teaching all people regardless of who we think they are, or what they are, remembering that God knows them better than us. We are to provide them the opportunity of hearing the truth of God, and the opportunity to respond to those truths. God will take care of all else for them.
Today we need to avoid the Jonah mentality about other people remembering that they are also God’s people, and that He is a merciful God. It is then that we can become the workers that God wants. The time to “cry out,” to teach all people, is now.
