Day 193
The first part of our reading for today addresses those things that will happen before the end of the Jewish nation. Then the attention is turned toward the return of Christ.
Since our main focus must be on our preparation for Christ’s return rather than on when He will return, let’s take a look at the admonition that is given to all mankind. Mark 13:37 sums it up very explicitly; “WATCH!” It is of utmost importance that we be continually watchful for, not only, do we not know when Christ will return, we do not know if we will live another day to get prepared.
Matthew 24:35-44 gives us the same warning; verse 42 tells us to “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” I Thes. 5:2 tells us that “the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.”
We also know that upon His return the dead in Christ will rise first, then those who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. I Thes. 4:16-17.
Let us always be prepared for His return.
