Day 194
Two by two the Lord said Go and two by two they went. They didn’t ask “What if” or “Why me?” They went “as lambs among wolves.” What could be a better example of soul fishing than this account of the seventy that were sent? There is only one better and that is the fact that they were sent “into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.”
These early missionaries didn’t worry about the conveniences of life. They didn’t even take money, knapsacks, or sandals. They just went. As they went, they didn’t speculate as to which house to call on. They proclaimed the message through the land, “The kingdom of God has come near to you.”
What did they find? “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name” was their response. God is all powerful and has given all authority to Christ, His Son. Those who proclaim His message have nothing to fear. “What can man do to me” (Heb 13:6). The message of the kingdom is worth more than anyone can even imagine. Jesus said to those He sent, “Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it.”
Through the Word of God, we can see and hear the same things. With the Word of God we can share them.
