Day 197
Jesus taught us a lot. For example, he warned us against hypocrites (especially religious hypocrites); he told us not to be afraid of people who cannot do us ultimate harm, but to fear God who can; he told us to stand solidly with him, even if it means persecution; he taught us not to be concerned with renting bigger storage units for our “stuff” when we should be concerned with life itself, not its “stuff”; he taught us not to worry about diet foods and designer clothes because God will take care of those things better than we can; he taught us to be ready to meet him, because we will; he taught us to take care of the things that he has given us and that if we abused them strictly for self indulgence we would be punished severely; he taught us that following him could force us to be abandoned by our families and friends; and he taught us to make peace with God while we could.
Why did Jesus teach us these things? For two reasons: 1) they are true and, 2) he cares for us enough to teach us the truth.
It seems like we ought to care enough to believe him – and to pass it on.
