Day 201
Man, are we off track!!! We teach our children to be on top, be number one in grades and in class rank. As parents try to develop skills that will enable our children to be the best in the business world. Learn, learn. Work, work. Achieve, achieve. Be number one.
God expects us to develop and use our talents in order to first provide for ourselves but also for others. We are not responsible only for ourselves. As a child, most of us learned the song “This little light of mine.” Have we forgotten the real meaning of this song? We cannot hide the light beam in our hand or pocket. It will always slip out and shine on the floor, on the wall or on some unnoticed place. We can only let our lights shine by serving others. And the most positive way to let our light shine is to serve God by serving others, by letting God shine in all that we do and say and are. Peter forgot for a brief period – forgot his responsibility to be a servant even in the rough times – until the rooster crowed. (Read the entire chapter.)
We all need some kind of rooster to remind us of our need to be servants for the Master and not be content to just enjoy our status as Christians to eat and drink at His table.
